Comiket (short for Comic Market) takes place twice a year in Tokyo—once during the summer and once in the winter. It’s the world’s largest doujinshi fair, bringing together enthusiasts of self-published manga, novels, and art collections. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a curious newcomer, Comiket offers a unique opportunity to discover rare and exclusive works.
What is Doujinshi?
Doujinshi refers to self-published creations, most commonly manga, novels, or illustrated art collections. Unlike mainstream publications, doujinshi are sold directly by the creators themselves, many of whom host individual booths rather than relying on large corporate stands. This grassroots approach is one of the main draws of Comiket, as it gives fans direct access to talented independent artists and authors. Many of these works are produced in limited runs and can only be found at the event—making them truly unique finds.
